Online: Webinar link will be emailed to you
Date: Thursday December 1
Time: 7:30pm-8:30pm
The leap from primary to secondary school marks one of the biggest transitions in a young person’s life. It’s also a time when most young Australians get their first taste of digital independence with access to a personal device and join social networks.
The Cyber Safety Project are connecting with graduating Year 6 2022 students and their parents from across Australia to facilitate a timely conversation about digital safety and wellbeing, before they transition to Secondary School.
Connecting online, especially with friends, can be fun but it’s important to know how to be safe whilst doing so. To stay safe we must consider where we are online, who can see us in the different spaces we go online and think carefully about the types of information we share.
This interactive digital workshop is designed to arm Year 6 students transitioning to Secondary School with the tools, strategies and resources to thrive and stay safe in a hyper connected digital world.
Through participating in this digital workshop, children will:
Develop a clear understanding of the different types of spaces we go online
Understand digital citizenship laws including cyberbullying and nude image sharing
Reflect on and learn from common mistakes made by young people on social media
Level up your privacy on social networks and games through activating important settings
Discover where to go to seek help seeking strategies and resources
Identify simple ways to be an upstanding digital citizen in 2023 and beyond
This webinar is a single stream (presenters only) event on Zoom.
It will be recorded and made available on demand for 14 days for all who register.
*Attendees will be emailed a link to the zoom webinar 24 hours before the session.
