Thank You Dark Horse Timber
When you live in a forest you develop a deep connection to the trees. They become part of your heart and your soul. For the MotHs Hub we wanted to bring that deep connection to place into our space as it is such an important part of what it is to be a mum of the hills. I approached Dark Horse Timber to see if we could make this dream come true. Being connected to the fantastic local business Tree Range Arborists, I already knew they had a deep love and respect for our forest and community, but I hadn’t anticipated the amount of support we would receive.
These two beautiful pieces go beyond what I had ever hoped for in our space. I wanted a meeting room table strong enough for up to 5 or 6 to work but still light enough to be able to fold and move to provide extra space. I also wanted a bench to enable sitting/standing work space flexibility. The team at Dark Horse Timber took on these challenges producing these stunning pieces that will live on in our space for many many years to come.
There is something extra special about these pieces however. The timber used comes from trees that fell in the huge storms we experienced in June 2021. On that night, 25,000 trees fell destroying homes, roads and livelihoods. While it is a miracle no one died, many local residents are still affected by that disaster. Seeing these beautiful pieces produced from trees that fell on a night that simultaneously tore our community apart and brought us together, well needless to say there were a few tears shed. These pieces will be a constant reminder to all that something good can come from a terrible situation.
