Victorians have spent an unprecedented period of time in lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And while the mental health effects of the last 18 months have been become apparent, there is now light at the end of the tunnel.
As lockdown and restrictions begin to ease over the coming months, there will be the opportunity to return to many of the activities that we used to enjoy. Socially, we will be able to start re-connecting. But with re-connection will come conversation and we are likely to find that some in our community will want to talk about their personal struggles and mental health challenges.
This webinar is focused on strengthening understanding about how to talk to and support others in our community as lockdown and restrictions ease. It will also examine how people can take care of protect themselves.
It will be facilitated by David Younger – Clinical Psychologist, and an expert in the area of natural disasters and emergencies. David has worked with many communities and individuals throughout Victoria and Australia. He is a member of the Education Department’s Trauma Recovery Team and is on the advisory panel of Melbourne University’s Children and Disasters Group.
The webinar will be the first in a number of opportunities for locals to come together to learn about key issues effecting so many lives in today’s ever-changing world. The session will include presentations by David and a short Q&A via the chat function.
David brings a commitment and a sensitivity to the experiences and needs of those that join the sessions. Everyone is welcome, privacy will be respected.
