FOR THE LOVE OF TREES: an immersive art experience

Immerse yourself in an art experience that respectfully recognises the impacts of June 9th storm.

  • Location: Burrinja, 351 Glenfern Rd, Upwey

  • Date: 4th and 5th December 2021

  • Time 1pm

“Just as I am bound to you by breath every creature lives in a weave of intimate interconnection. There are no individuals in the forest, life begins and ends in community.” David Haskell

The forests of the Dandenong Ranges are intimately woven into the threads of our lives, our community. “For the Love of Trees” delves deeply into this myriad of experiences, reminiscences and imaginings. Into the past, present and future of the forest that surrounds us. It is at once an immersive art experience, a curated exhibition and an invitation to participate.

Come to the exhibition opening on December 4th at 1pm.

  • Contribute your artefact for the evolving forest sculpture.

  • Record your love letter and upload it

  • Join us for the Voices in the Trees launch on December the 11th at 1pm

  • Revisit the exhibition and the audio installation over the coming months (as many times as you like!)

CONTRIBUTE A BOTANICAL MEMENTO

Bring your clean and dry memento to Burrinja Gallery from the June 2021 storms.  Tell us the story behind the object by writing a short description on the tags provided, add you name and location if you wish. We ask that it is clean, dry and no more than one metre square in size. From these specimens we will create an evolving forest sculpture.

ADD YOUR LOVE LETTER TO THE VOICES IN THE TREES INSTALLATION

  • Record your short love letter to the forest (under 60 seconds is ideal).

  • Upload your audio file via this jotform:
Please note the file can be no bigger than 10.6MB

  • Be sure to fill in and sign the waiver section of the form if you would like us to include your love letter in the sound installation.

  • Entries are open now and you can submit your love letters throughout the duration of the project.
